IPv6 – The Green Enabler

IPv6 – The Green Enabler

IPv6 is a technology that promises to meet the needs of the massive growth of the Internet (and the “internet of things” vision), eliminating some of the restrictions caused by IPv4 technology. Thus, IPv6 technology takes on the role of a “green” enabler and introduces various additional benefits such as security, effective access control, reduced management and maintenance effort.

IPv6 technology, where it has already been deployed, provides a leveraging technology for enhancing existing services and also makes new services available to the end users, including advanced energy services such as the ones we offer.

The GEN6 (Governments Enabled with IPv6) is an EU project whose  ambitious mission is to set up complementary and interoperable national and cross-border pilots across different EU States, in order to validate and catalyze the deployment of IPv6 in the existing EU government infrastructures, services and applications.
